Getting Around

Steele Creek to Uptown

A “20-minute” drive is real under some conditions, from some streets, to some destinations. Here is how to test yours.

Define the destination

“Uptown” covers many blocks and parking decks. Use your actual office or venue address.

Likely routes

  • I-485 to I-77 north — common from much of Steele Creek.
  • South Tryon Street (NC 49) — a surface-street alternative from the eastern side.
  • Billy Graham Parkway and West Boulevard approaches from the airport side.

About illustrative times

Any time you see — including ours — should name an origin, a destination, a method and the conditions. For example, a 20-minute drive is only an illustration of a favorable off-peak trip from a northern Steele Creek starting point to a central Uptown address. Peak-hour travel can be substantially longer.

Transit

CATS operates bus service in parts of Steele Creek. LYNX light rail does not directly serve Steele Creek at last check. Future transit projects are described only with their verified status: proposed, funded, under construction or operating.
